Digital Risk Monitoring Can Negate ‘Indicators of Exhaustion’

When I first joined Digital Shadows in January, I wrote about the current state of threat intelligence and how “Indicators of Exhaustion” (IoEs) were overwhelming analysts – and performing denial of service attacks on our security controls. I also wrote about why organizations needed to pull their heads up from the sand, by not just considering relevant adversary-based threat intelligence, but by also by increasing situational awareness around organizations’ digital footprints.

In the eight months that I have been here working with Digital Shadows prospects and clients, the need to better understand broader risks associated with brand protection, physical security, and data leakage has only become more clear.

Digital Shadows recently participated in the Forrester Research’s Digital Risk Monitoring Wave. Digital risk monitoring is how Forrester describes what we call cyber situational awareness.

I have to say, being on the vendor side of a Wave was a bit of a surreal experience given that I delivered multiple Waves while I was a Forrester analyst. I am very pleased that we are a leader in this Wave, based on our breadth and benefits of coverage. Forrester had many good things to say about us, the best being that “Digital Shadows showcases the digital risk dashboard of the future.”

You can access the Digital Risk Monitoring Wave to learn more about Forrester’s analysis. I’m definitely very proud of this report, since it even further supports the need for a broader approach to protection that can diminish IoEs.
