A global spearphishing campaign targeted organizations associated with a COVID-19 vaccine cold chain, threatening the preservation of the vaccine during storage and transportation. The September 2020 campaign spanned multiple countries, targeting global partners and supporters of the Cold Chain Equipment Optimization Platform (CCEOP) program. Given that the CCEOP is accelerating efforts to facilitate the distribution of a COVID-19 vaccine, it is realistically possible that breaching any party in this global alliance could disrupt operations. Another potential result is unauthorized access that reveals corporate networks and sensitive information relating to the vaccine distribution.
