Weekly Intelligence Summary 21 Feb 2020

February 21, 2020

With the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games fast approaching, the cyber security concerns and evolving attack methods are already taking centre stage of threat intelligence discussions. Past Olympic events have often garnered an array of similar cyber attacks, but the technological advances due to be applied at Tokyo 2020 has the realistic possibility of diversifying and accentuating the threat landscape. Recent trends in threat actor behavior demonstrate an ongoing threat to Olympic digital infrastructure and an intent to compromise Internet-connected technology. This combination presents a credible threat to future Olympic events, those organizations associated or sponsoring the event, and wider unaffiliated organizations that may succumb to Olympic-themed attacks.
