May 22, 2020

A threat group by the name of ShinyHunters has flooded dark web marketplaces and criminal forums with leaked databases belonging to at least 18 companies. The databases exposed by the group contained more than 266 million user records affecting companies in the education, media, e-commerce, and technology sectors. The group has also hinted that they are preparing to release a second wave of leaked data, potentially containing more information from the previous victims. ShinyHunters has many similarities to GnosticPlayers, a threat group that was responsible for breaches affecting 44 companies in early 2019, involving close to 1 billion user records.
