Weekly Intelligence Summary 26 June 2020

June 26, 2020

A cyber-threat campaign was discovered exploiting an Adobe Campaign redirection flaw and abusing mail servers for heavily obfuscated phishing attacks. The perpetrators targeted a Samsung web domain and  University of Oxford mail servers to direct users to an Office 365 phishing page that could steal user credentials. By using legitimate and reputable domains, the attackers were likely able to bypass email security filters and directly target company employees. In general, threat actors are going to great lengths to improve the effectiveness of phishing attacks and evade security protections, presenting new challenges for security teams. Phishing campaigns using redirection, spoofing, and evasion techniques are regularly reported and should be monitored for.
